Community Empowerment Resources

WHAT WE DO: Community Empowerment Resources (CER) is a private 501(c)(3) nonprofit agency located in Honolulu, Hawaii. We employ case managers to help the mentally ill population. Many of our 600 clients are homeless, have substance abuse, legal, and other issues. Our mission is to improve the client's quality of life and help them remain stable in the community.

WHAT OUR CASE MANAGERS DO: As a field case manager, you provide regular face-to-face contact in the community with your clients, crisis assessment and intervention, and these interactions happen in the client's home, work, the park, the beach, or other community settings. We help with gaining access to psychiatric and medication services, referral to a primary care physician for medical services, finding a job, housing, state and federal benefit programs, and getting access to legal and other community services.

BENEFITS OF WORKING AT CER:  Studies about job satisfaction show that what people value the most is to have meaningful work, good relationships with colleagues and supervisors, the feeling that you're making a difference in people's lives, good work-life balance, work for a financially stable company, and job security. CER provides all this and more. The nonprofit agency pays the entire premium for quality healthcare insurance for the employee. We provide paid time off, a one-time $150 stipend to purchase a tablet, and a monthly ongoing $50 stipend for a smart phone. Salaries are modest because government funding for this work is limited. Raises are possible contingent upon your Key Performance Indicators. Advancement is possible for those with high performance and a health-related master's degree. Our employees like the flexibility of the job because they do not punch a clock and they create their own schedules, yet they get plenty of support from clinical supervisors and managers.
