Summary/Objective

This position is responsible for providing Strategic Category Management expertise to develop procurement strategies that balance values with risk mitigation and reduce Total Cost of Ownership. Develop and implement sourcing strategies and productivity initiatives to enable growth, increase margin, accelerate supplier performance, and mitigate supply risk.

This role may include but is not be limited to, managing the following categories: Construction, General Supplies, Merchandise, Heavy Equipment and Vehicles.

Essential Functions

  • Works closely with the Procurement Manager to lead assigned categories across the organization.
  • Provides stakeholders with industry and supplier research, market intelligence and financial analysis.
  • Supports end-to-end sourcing projects to drive TCO reductions, including all key steps such as strategy development, supplier negotiation, award recommendations, business case presentations, and vendor contract execution.
  • Engages with prospective vendor relationships, including leading quarterly business review (QBR) meetings and advanced supplier relationship (ASR) meetings.
  • Prepares and presents reports on category-base activities, costs and vendor performance.
  • Researches and keeps current with the latest policies, procedures, internal controls, regulations, and laws to maintain full compliance across the Procurement Function.

Required Education, Experience, Certification and Licensure

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Accounting, Engineering, Legal, or other related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of category management, strategic sourcing or other related supply chain/procurement experience.
  • Valid state-issued driver's license in good standing and with an acceptable driving record.

  • Comfortable interfacing with and driving various functional teams and individuals at all levels of the organization.

  • Experience in stakeholder management, dealing with multiple stakeholders at varied levels of the organization. Ability to build and manage stakeholder relationships.
  • Attention to detail with the ability to manage competing priorities. Experience implementing repeatable processes, driving automation and standardization.
  • Demonstrated analytical and quantitative skills and ability to use hard data and metrics to support recommendations and develop business cases.
  • Proven experience with Procurement to Pay (P2P) System Integration. Change Advocacy: Advocate for change within the organization, promoting a culture of adaptability and continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated experience with contract negotiations and ability to communicate contract terms and conditions effectively to others.
