Wholesale Banking provides financial solutions to businesses across the United States and globally.  Our four major business lines include Corporate & Investment Banking, Commercial Banking, Commercial Real Estate, and Wells Fargo Commercial Capital.  We also have groups in credit risk, group risk, finance, marketing, human relations, and the Wholesale Chief Operating Office that support our businesses.

Wholesale Control (WC)
The Wholesale Control (WC) organization serves as the front line risk management organization within the Wholesale Banking group of Wells Fargo supporting the Wholesale businesses with risk strategy, implementation, and execution.  The Wholesale Control team is accountable to assess and effectively manage risks across all risk types and Wholesale businesses delivering an integrated view of risks, producing a sustainable control environment, and instilling a culture of strong risk management.  The team is responsible to identify and assess risks, design and implement controls, and execute and monitor the controls to ensure they are working effectively to manage risk across Wholesale.  Wholesale Control interfaces with Independent Risk Management and Audit to drive comprehensive and consistent implementation of regulatory and corporate risk policies and programs across Wholesale. 

The Role
This position will report to the Wholesale Risk Reduction & Escalation Manager. The position will be part of The Group Issue Management team, and will be responsible for managing the change activity within the Wholesale Risk Reduction program to include driving change management activity, business case dev, current state, target state, build, and control. 
 
Individual Responsibilities

  • Oversee the change management process to achieve a repeatable, actionable, and coordinated risk reduction process throughout all levels of the Wholesale organization.
  • Perform timely and accurate risk assessments of risk initiatives that are in the Wholesale GIM portfolio for review to determine the best course of action.
  • Coordinate risk reduction reviews with impacted stakeholders to gather all event information to allow for a detailed assessment and business case.   
  • Partner with risk reduction stakeholders to use both qualitative and quantitative data, and apply professional judgment to assist with assigning appropriate time and resources.
  • Partner with risk reduction stakeholders for timely communication through the change management process.
  • Assist risk reduction stakeholders with developing an appropriate project timeline when an initiative is considered a high priority.
  • Coordinating with the stakeholders to obtain and enter status updates during initiative tracking.
  • Provide Management Committee level reporting for the portfolio of risk reduction initatives.
  • Assist with the approval process for risk acceptance and ongoing monitoring of risk acceptance in accordance with Risk Acceptance Policy requirements to ensure risk acceptance continues to be appropriate.

They are accountable for execution of all applicable risk programs (Credit, Market, Financial Crimes, Operational, Regulatory Compliance), which includes effectively following, and adhering to and if applicable Wells Fargo policies and procedures, appropriately fulfilling risk and compliance obligations, timely and effective escalation and remediation of issues, and making sound risk decisions. There is emphasis on proactive monitoring, governance, risk identification and escalation, as well as making sound risk decisions commensurate with the business unit’s risk appetite, and all risk and compliance program requirements.



Required Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in compliance, operational risk management (includes audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, or the management of a process or business with accountability for compliance or operational risk), or a combination of both; or 6+ years of IT systems security, business process management or financial services industry experience, of which 3+ years must include direct experience in compliance, operational risk management, or a combination of both

  • Knowledge and understanding of Regulatory Risk and Compliance policies and programs
  • Experience successfully managing complex issues and tracking follow-through to completion
  • Experience conducting root cause analysis for data-driven process-related improvements
  • Knowledge and understanding of wholesale banking products and services
  • Knowledge and understanding of Risk Management Information Systems
  • Ability to partner with business partners to help them conduct corrective action design and assist in other related Issue Management aspects
  • Database experience


Job Expectations

  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
