Corporate Risk helps all Wells Fargo businesses identify and manage risk. The team focuses on several key risk types, including conduct, credit, financial crimes, information security, interest rate, liquidity, market, model, operational, regulatory compliance, reputation, strategic, and technology risk. The group provides leadership, enhances communications, assists with problem identification and solutions, and shares best practices. In addition, the group provides an enterprise-wide view of risk, assists management and our Board of Directors in identifying and monitoring risks that may affect multiple lines of business, and takes appropriate action when business activities exceed the risk tolerance of the company.

Support the Compliance Manager and regional Compliance teams in the day-to-day management and coordination of International Compliance's credible challenge of compliance risks and controls in business processes impacting the international regions. Provide oversight of regulatory compliance, cross border activity, conduct, and compliance learning outside of the United States to ensure consistent and strong compliance risk programs across the international regions, driving execution and consistency.

International Compliance provides comprehensive support, oversight and guidance across the International Regions regarding the development and implementation of regulatory compliance risk management policies, standards, guidance, procedures and program documents.

Experience with process re-engineering and solution, and principles of business process management / understanding of data models specifically around regulatory and compliance requirements. Understanding of technology platforms to enable compliance and regulatory needs.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Primarily responsible for supporting the Compliance Manager and regional Compliance teams in the day-to-day management and coordination of International Compliance’s credible challenge of compliance risks and controls in business processes impacting the international regions
  • Experience with business process management, understanding data models specifically around regulatory and compliance requirements.  Understanding documenting business processes and controls as a foundational component in accordance with Wells Fargo’s Risk Framework in order to provide oversight
  • Work closely with International Compliance, and other Compliance functions on various compliance projects or initiatives related to the oversight of regulatory compliance, cross border activity, conduct, and compliance learning outside the United States to ensure consistent and strong compliance risk programs across the international regions, driving execution and consistency
  • Participate in working groups; management of changes, decisions, issues and risks
  • Development of guidance documentation and / or job aids which will support the International Compliance and business facing teams
  • Manage and/or coordinate production of periodic compliance performance reports for senior management, International Compliance and various stakeholders Review reports and other data to provide oversight, and conduct root cause, data and trend analysis, relating to the programs and recommended strategies
  • Manage multiple initiatives simultaneously using strong time management and prioritization skills to formulate, organize, and monitor inter-connected initiatives
  • Maintain and foster strong relationships with Compliance and Control partners and other lines of business to facilitate discussions and resolve issues
  • Interact with Compliance leadership and key stakeholders to establish strategic plans and objectives for initiatives
  • Ensure integrity and delivery of multiple initiatives with respect to time, budget, scope, change, risk, and resources

A successful candidate will possess the following:

  • Significant experience in analyzing, complex compliance problems and developing and operationalizing solutions
  • Significant experience/knowledge in the operation of compliance programs at a large financial services institution. 
  • Experience managing compliance-driven initiatives and / or processes which require close partnership with compliance and / or audit functions
  • Experience with enterprise-wide change management initiatives, infrastructure and technology enablement, and driving / balancing strategic needs with competing priorities
  • Understanding of technology platforms to enable compliance and regulatory needs 
  • Ability to communicate effectively, in both written and verbal formats, with senior executive-level leaders
  • Must be a proactive self-starter who values personal accountability and thrives under pressure in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment
  • Proven ability to navigate through ambiguity and maintain momentum driving for results and clarity in uncertain situations
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong, effective, collaborative partnerships across business units, creating alliances among diverse stakeholders

Required Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in compliance, operational risk management (includes audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, or the management of a process or business with accountability for compliance or operational risk), or a combination of both; or 6+ years of IT systems security, business process management or financial services industry experience, of which 3+ years must include direct experience in compliance, operational risk management, or a combination of both

Other Desired Qualifications
  • Previous experience ( BPM ) Business Process Management
  • Understanding of and experience with international laws and regulations impacting financial institutions.  International experience either by having worked abroad or close interaction with international locations.
  • Experience working within enterprise wide transformations programs
  • Experience working in a Compliance-Risk & Control setting in a large, diversified financial institution
  • Robust experience managing and resolving issues, risks, scope, schedule, dependencies, assumptions, and communications, including carrying out risk management, mitigation, and planning across large projects
  • Experience working horizontally across a large, complex organization and participating in enterprise-wide implementations of major policy and relevant compliance programs across major business divisions
  • Effectiveness in driving successful execution of plans; ability to plan, prioritize, and set goals
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong credible relationships with key stakeholder groups including management, regulators, front line businesses, and enterprise functions
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment, and adjust to changing priorities
  • Ability to work all time zones to accommodate International time zones as needed
