Corporate Risk helps all Wells Fargo businesses identify and manage risk. The team focuses on several key risk types, including conduct, credit, financial crimes, information security, interest rate, liquidity, market, model, operational, regulatory compliance, reputation, strategic, and technology risk. The group provides leadership, enhances communications, assists with problem identification and solutions, and shares best practices. In addition, the group provides an enterprise-wide view of risk, assists management and our Board of Directors in identifying and monitoring risks that may affect multiple lines of business, and takes appropriate action when business activities exceed the risk tolerance of the company.

The Credit Risk organization is seeking a strong leader that will report to the manager of the Program Team which is part of Commercial Credit Administration.

The Program Team is a small team of credit professionals responsible for ensuring that Commercial Credit meets all of the requirements of the various enterprise and group risk programs including, but not limited to, Credit Policy Exceptions, Concentrations, Country of Risk, Risk Appetite/Key Risk Indicators, and Enterprise Risk Identification. The team works to ensure that leaders of each of the commercial business, and the credit officers aligned with those businesses, understand the program requirements and their importance in a comprehensive credit risk management environment. This individual must work collaboratively across all Commercial Credit to build upon and/or develop business as usual processes and procedures to meet the various program requirements, including appropriate governance.

Specifically this individual will be responsible for:

  • Working on various enterprise and group risk programs including, but not limited to: Credit Policy Exceptions, Concentrations, Country of Risk, Risk Appetite/Key Risk Indicators, and Enterprise Risk Identification
  • Monitoring and conducting in-depth analysis on the credit metrics within the risk programs
  • Collaborating with the Commercial Credit Reporting and Analysis and the Credit Consulting and Services teams on reporting of the risk programs to senior management, to the Board, and to the Regulators
  • Working with senior credit and business leaders to ensure that all credit risk metrics are appropriate and aligned with the Company’s credit risk appetite, other risk programs, and strategic plans
  • Working with senior credit and business leaders to develop appropriate risk management strategies whenever credit risk boundaries are breached
  • Governance matters for the various risk program including maintaining program documentation and committee charters; creating committee agendas; preparation of committee materials and minutes; following-up on escalated items; maintaining central governance repository


Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of risk experience



Desired Qualifications

  • A BS/BA degree or higher
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strategic planning experience in translating leadership vision into executable strategies and initiatives
  • Ability to work and influence successfully within a matrix environment and build effective business partnerships with all levels of team members
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to influence, partner, and negotiate with senior business leaders to gain commitment to accomplish business goals
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills
  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills
  • Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, achieve goals, and work under pressure in a dynamic and complex environment
  • Knowledge and understanding of credit: policy, compliance, and underwriting requirements
  • Knowledge and understanding of credit risk management
  • Ability to present results of analyses and recommendations to senior leaders



Other Desired Qualifications
  • In-depth understanding and experience underwriting and analyzing commercial credit transactions
  • Proven ability to create, interpret and present analytical insights to senior management
  • Strong conceptual and quantitative problem solving skills; ability to provide credible challenge
  • Experience working on regulatory related projects involving MRAs and/or consent orders
