In this position as an Application Systems Engineer 5, you will act as a lead in providing application design guidance and consultation, utilizing a thorough understanding of applicable technology, tools and existing designs. You will be responsible for supporting a specific LOB within Consumer Lending by developing new and/or enhanced functionality for the applications utilized by the LOB, as well monitoring and participating in production support and release and deployment activities.

Other responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

• Responsible for producing detailed Functional System Design documents, Use Cases and interface data mapping.
• Acts as a liaison between client area and technical organization by planning, conducting, and directing the analysis of highly complex business problems to be solved with automated systems.
• Provides technical assistance in identifying, evaluating, and developing systems and procedures that are cost effective and meet business requirements.
• Works with user groups to, resolve questions, assess user needs and recommend improvements. 
• Responsible for supporting technical and testing groups in root cause analysis of system defects.
• Recommends, initiates and coordinates/tracks (QA) testing, acts as the highest-level internal consultant within technology and business groups by re-engineering technical processes for greater efficiencies impactful to the business. 

An ideal candidate would be someone who has done development and moved to systems analysis and solution design role using agile methodology. This candidate is on the career path to become a solution engineer or solutions architect.

The preferred locations would be the Wells Fargo site location(s) in Des Moines IA, Minneapolis, MN or Charlotte NC.  Other Wells Fargo locations may be considered as well.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of application development and implementation experience



Desired Qualifications

  • Financial services industry experience
  • Ability to work effectively, as well as independently, in a team environment
  • Good analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Knowledge and understanding of home lending or consumer lending
  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills
  • 7+ years of Java experience
  • Wells Fargo home lending technology experience
  • Good verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills



Job Expectations

  • Ability to travel up to 5% of the time
