Description:

The Maintenance Planner works with the Maintenance Manager and Supervisors to improve work force productivity and work quality by anticipating and eliminating potential delays through planning and coordination of labor, parts and material, as well as equipment access.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Administer department PM and work order system using CMMS software. (SOMAX)
  • Monitor, order, set parts to work orders, aid procurement of critical parts for shop inventory.
  • Will develop backup plans for scheduled maintenance programs and processes for the production facility and prioritize repair programs.
  • Leads, manages and supervises buyers and stockroom attendant in pursuit of stated objectives.
  • Develop written procedures for specific tasks such as servicing equipment and operational adjustments to some equipment.
  • Will advise senior management on issues related to present and future operational equipment and procedures in pursuit of production efficiency, safety and cost effectiveness of operations.
  • Keeps and maintains records and performs periodic inventory for stockroom.
  • Maintains required stock levels of consumable parts required to be kept in house for maintaining machinery and equipment.
  • Maintains manuals required to assist in servicing, maintaining and repairing all machinery and equipment.
  • Assist in tracking and maintaining department budget accounts and capital spend as required.
  • Will pre-evaluate the need for replacement parts, places orders and schedules maintenance staff.
  • Plan and schedule department workloads in SOMAX, with critical work orders and management assignments.
  • Maintain and manage department backlog, of work orders and PM tasks.
  • Promote the actualization of Planning & Scheduling (P&S), Preventive and Predictive Maintenance (PPM) and all supporting systems.
  • Provide reports and data as required, to department and plant management.
  • Provide SOMAX instruction to maintenance and inventory control associates, as required.
  • Direct root cause analysis on equipment failures.
  • Assist and work with vendors on equipment upgrades and coordinates implementation.
  • Develops and coordinates plans for reconstruction or installation of new equipment.
  • Develops and modify preventive maintenance procedures as required.
  • Estimates costs of personnel, parts, and supplies to be used during scheduled maintenance.
  • Drive department compliance with established safety, GMP, and QCP training and ensure compliance with all company policies, plant rules and all regulatory agencies.
  • Examines manufacturing equipment to ensure that is works properly and meets all applicable standards and develops a plan for corrective action as needed.
  • Additional duties as assigned

Position Requirements:

Education and Work History:

High School Diploma or GED, Associates/Bachelor s Degree in a Technical, Business or other related field preferred. An equivalent number of years of experience in baking or food industry may be acceptable.

  • Ideal candidate will possess:
  • Be available to work varied hours as needed
  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience in production, preferably in the food industry or manufacturing is required
  • Experience with CMMS systems, parts procurement and inventory control
  • Experienced in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Prior planning scheduling experience preferred. College education a plus.
  • AIB certification a plus
  • Able to read blueprints and perform job layouts for electrical circuitry, and devices
  • Working knowledge of computers, including MS office applications
  • Willingness to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate and train employees within a team oriented environment
  • Must be self-directed and able to work without close supervision - position requires high energy and motivation and a strong desire to drive positive change
  • Strong organizational, verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong leadership and team building skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Bilingual - English/Spanish is preferred
