The Cox Family Office is hiring a Staff Accounting Analyst to support the Financial Services team. The Staff Accounting Analyst will be based in Atlanta and responsible for managing and contributing to various accounting and tax matters and projects serving Cox Family members, trusts, and associated entities. Critical to the role is the ability to think critically, problem-solve, and prioritize team needs while maintaining organization as a dedicated team player throughout each step of a project.

This individual will report to the Accounting Manager. He/she will collaborate with the Family Services and Tax teams.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Prepare operating entity financial statements.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly, resolve issues timely and ensure balances are properly supported and explained.
  • Assist with treasury management.
  • Perform general ledger activities such as journal entries for accruals or expense account reclassifications.
  • Support the financial close process by processing the necessary journal entries and performing the required variance analysis. Ensure accuracy with adherence to deadlines.
  • Review and analyze monthly activities for accuracy providing recommendations when opportunities for improvement are presented.
  • Assist with a variety of ad hoc requests from accounting groups or cross-functionally (Risk Management, Family Services, Private Trust Companies, and Legal).
  • Collaborate with outside service providers on projects to fully utilize software and establish best-in-class practices.
  • Collaborate closely with the tax team for tax planning and schedules.
  • The right person for this role will be open to continuous learning and feedback. We are an entity in transition and moving towards best-in-class services in a family office environment. Discretion and judgment are hugely important, as is the desire to be a proactive self-starter.

Qualifications:

Minimum

  • CPA candidate
  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration (Accounting or Finance required)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Highly detail-oriented and organized in work
  • Highest level of discretion and judgment

Preferred

  • CPA
  • Experience in analyzing financials of real estate investments, private equities, estates, and trusts is preferred
  • Family office or High Net Worth accounting experience preferred
  • 1-2 years public accounting experience at a regional or national firm
  • Audit background preferred
