The Sourcing Manager is involved in leading development and execution of the sourcing strategy for Marketing specific sourcing events. Responsibilities include executing on the role specific sourcing strategy, leading the sourcing process including market research and spend baselining, analyzing sourcing results, performing supplier capability assessments, selecting supplier, and supporting the contracting process. In addition, the Sourcing Manager executes analytics to effectively track and report the performance of role specific projects.

 

Purpose (Overall Accountability)

Responsible for the delivery and execution of strategic sourcing events and projects (RFx, direct negotiations, contract renewals, etc.) in accordance with SLAs, department standards, and business needs.

Sets the example for doing the right thing through personal and professional behaviors of honesty, integrity, and keeping commitments. Responsible for delivering savings and helping achieve diversity spend through project outcomes and selection of diverse suppliers, while balancing the needs and desired business results of business and boundary partners.  Results and benefits are measured across financial and operational dimensions, including total cost of ownership, contract quality and time to complete.

 
Major Tasks
  • Define and Execute on Marketing initiatives, ensuring security, technology and business requirements are well defined and implemented.  Develop and execute sourcing activities (RFI, RFQ, events, etc.), evaluate bids and select suppliers to meet internal business needs related to Marketing.

  • Negotiate and implement strategic alliances with suppliers to leverage company-wide volume, optimizing the number of suppliers.

  • Assist and provide guidance on improvement opportunities and ensure that the sourcing strategy is executed properly.

  • Communicate strategies, objectives and performance to senior management and business partners.

  • Solicit formal and informal bids for requested goods.

  • Work with the Category Management team to execute sourcing events based on leading practices.

Contract and Compliance Management

  • Perform semi-annual analyses of Cox’s overall contract usage and spend under contract; leverage contract data to identify improvement opportunities.

  • Understand sourcing strategies and maintain playbooks summarizing best approach to drive internal efficiencies and cost savings strategies.

  • Assist Category Managers in driving compliance to negotiated terms.

Supplier Relationship Management

  • Develop strategies and models to qualify and evaluate supplier capabilities related to expertise, industry experience, capacity, quality, operating model, financial stability, strategic positioning in the market, etc.

  • Support the development of supplier performance and capabilities.

Qualifications:

Required
  • Minimum 5 years of sourcing/procurement experience.
  • Proven experience in the 7-step strategic sourcing process.
  • Analytics, reporting and financial acumen skills.
  • Knowledge of key strategic sourcing processes & best practices.

  • Ability to solve problems that are difficult and vague, requiring consideration of other job areas and a greater diversity of issues addressed.

  • The ability to communicate and collaborate with other functions, regions and departments within CCI and CAI in alignment with Cox values and culture.

  • The ability to convince others with shared interests to adopt policies, practices, and procedures. May influence others that are skeptical or unwilling to adapt current approach.

  • Self-starter with the ability to manage projects independently with little supervision.

  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Strong aptitude for customer service.
     
Preferred
  • University degree in Business, Marketing or related field.

  • Project Management certification (PMP), Lean or Six Sigma training.

  • Knowledge of the telecommunications and automotive markets.
  • Experience in the use of supply chain technologies such as Oracle P2P and eSourcing Suites for sourcing event management.
