Role Summary

Assess and monitor technology risks to Cox Automotive’s operations and financial statements. Assist with confirming that key controls are designed and operating effectively as well supporting Management with remediation activity when necessary. Coordinate with other risk related groups to ensure accuracy of financial statements and compliance with regulatory requirements.  Drive business ownership of internal controls.


Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions

·       Assist with internal control assessments by identifying, documenting, evaluating and monitoring key technology controls supporting the financial environment across Cox Automotive business units.

·       Assist with managing the SOC Report program, partnering with applicable business partners and external auditors

·       Participate on multiple projects simultaneously ensuring each engagement is conducted in an efficient and effective manner, while providing coaching to younger staff

·       Responsible for the maintenance and preparation of detailed and accurate documentation, including narratives, control descriptions, risk & control matrices, process flowcharts, and management responses & remediation.

·       Define and identify control gaps and provide recommendations (remediation / mitigation) for control process improvements.

·       Effectively communicate results of activities in an accurate and concise manner verbally and in writing.

·       Monitor internal controls design certifications, narratives, control testing, communicate status to control owners, and determine need for escalations.

·       Monitor task status in Wdesk (governance and risk tool) related to the design and operational effectiveness of key controls.

·       Assist internal customers with troubleshooting & resolution of system issues/problems related to ICG tools.

·       Ability to research risks impacting emerging technologies and participate in control design during new systems implementations. 

·       Perform special projects and tasks as assigned.


  • Bachelor’s degree in related field required or equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in external audit, internal audit, SOX compliance or a combination of relevant experience, education and certification.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio. 
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, presentation skills needed to work effectively with teams throughout the organization.
  • Proven track record of successfully collaborating with management on technology and operational issues to influence improvements to control environment and/or increase efficiency.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA or CISA certification preferred
  • Working knowledge of Oracle and Workiva Wdesk preferred
  • Automotive industry experience preferred
