Job Summary:

The Security Engineer will maintain vulnerability and SIEM platforms & remediate risks.  The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong business acumen and possess a blend of security, technology, and general business competencies. The engineer in this role will have a versatile IT Security background, critical thinking, and analytical capabilities, as well as a proven ability to bridge organization boundaries to implement security controls and risk mitigation strategies. The candidate should have a vast overall knowledge of the IT security space, must be a self-starter and be able to deliver results with minimal supervision.

 

Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

  • Serves as primary resources for vulnerability identification, triage, and response.
  • Ensures all devices are patched, logs are collected, scanned, and vulnerabilities promptly mitigated.
  • Applies recurring patches to the multi-tenant platform components through coordination and/or execution of those patches.
  • Delivers metrics and reporting on security platform status, health, and trends.
  • Provides day-to-day administration of security tools (SIEM, vulnerability scanners, patching tools, etc.).
  • Operates a variety of security toolsets & and follows the defined security processes. Examples include:
    • RapidScale Cloud Platform EDR periodic log review and manual remediation.
    • RapidScale SIEM Platform agent installation and verification of data collection.
    • RapidScale Vulnerability Scanner(s) administration, periodic review of results, result triage, and remediation.
  • Works closely with company staff and 3rd parties to create awareness and resolve new online threats.
  • Ongoing analysis and enhancements to evolving countermeasures and/or policies.
  • Work with the Incident Response team to build an ability to rapidly detect, contain, investigate, eradicate, and recover from security incidents.
  • Support ad hoc security projects.

Qualifications:

Minimum:

The minimum qualifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability necessary for an individual to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable amounts of training are provided.

  •  Candidate must be a highly motived Information Technology professional who has IT operations and/or IT security experience.
  • Knowledge of and prior hands-on experience in a wide variety of security tools/ technologies
  • Working knowledge of cloud services, customer support processes, and customer notification methods.
  • At least 5 years of related experience
  • Willingness to work on a 24x7 on-call rotation schedule 
Preferred:

The ideal candidate will possess a positive attitude, a strong sense of urgency, require limited supervision; drive results independently. This position requires the ability to apply attained experiences and knowledge in solving problems that are complex in scope, requiring in-depth evaluation, as well as, the ability to identify problems in advance and propose solutions. Able to collaborate and work across multiple internal functions to ensure that timelines and milestones are achieved.  Resolves problem situations in a professional manner. Superior communication skills. Ability to understand and translate complex security and compliance requirements to other teams throughout the organization. Accurately communicates pertinent information to create a work environment of trust and transparency. A flexible schedule is a must.
