Position Summary:

The Senior Product Manager of Hospitality Video and WIFI Managed Services is responsible for the end to end strategy, development, launch, and lifecycle management of the product portfolio for the Hospitality Networks (HN) division of Cox Business.  Hospitality Networks is focused on the development and delivery of video and WIFI managed services serving major hotel and casino properties, national hospitality brands, and other large venues such as conference centers and stadiums.

This individual will be responsible for:

  • Developing and executing on an articulated product strategy and vision that meets the unique needs of the properties served by Hospitality Networks while aligning with the overall product and architectural direction for Cox Business

  • Acting as the primary point of contact for Hospitality Networks for the product organization, and the liaison to the broader Cox Business product and technology organizations

 

The position requires that the individual chosen to develop an in-depth working knowledge of HN’s IT infrastructure and managed services ecosystems from a business, technical and operational perspective.  The individual filling this role must be self-motivated and demonstrate the ability to lead and drive consensus on complex issues.

 

Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Develop articulated product strategy for Hospitality Networks video and wifi services portfolio; build product roadmap to execute on strategy

  • Spearhead HN specific product development activities in accordance with the existing product development methodology

  • Manage cross functional teams to develop product requirements, concept design and testing of new services

  • Research and prepare business case justification for new product investments

  • Identify strategic opportunities to leverage third party equipment or services and, as appropriate, manage various aspects of the vendor selection process including:

    • Authoring RFPs

    • Coordinating bid activities across vendors and Cox functional teams

    • Oversee RFI/RFP and field test initiatives required for vendor evaluations

    • Managing vendor selection

  • Recommend strategies for product deployment and launch

  • Follow and research industry and customer trends in order to provide inputs into ideation process

  • Regularly gather input from customers and internal stakeholders (i.e. sales, marketing, etc.) to find and address product weaknesses/gaps and identify opportunities for continuous improvement

  • Regularly gather and update competitive data related to competitions’ product capabilities and pricing

  • Support strategic sales opportunities
  • Move ideas through a project funnel from ideation, to concept, to development, to trial, and finally to deployment as the champion and owner of the initiatives

  • Lead cross functional teams to build profitable business cases supporting new product development, that can be integrated into the company’s financial plan

  • Design, author and maintain product requirements for new products and customer applications

  • Manage development and product release with all relevant functional groups to include Engineering, Marketing, Billing, Customer Care, Field Services, NOC, Legal/Regulatory, and Sales

  • Provide leadership and insight in competitive product analysis, including commercial customer use behavior and emerging trends and applications

  • Serve as subject matter expert for the respective product portfolio

  • Work closely with integrators, vendors and internal teams to deploy and support our products

  • Lead and manage product enhancements and migrations to new technology platforms

  • Coordinate with, and provide leadership for, project managers and cross-functional groups on project schedules/deliverables

  • Manage resolution of development issues

  • Manage day-to-day beta trial activities, document trial results assessment, and institute necessary product modifications after trial

  • Drive effective product launches in each system and facilitate training rollout plans

 

Qualifications:

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • 7+ years of related work experience (product development/management preferably in the telecommunications industry); 5+ years with an advanced degree

  • Ability to work with large cross functional teams in a matrix organization

  • Demonstrated strong technical and market knowledge with video and wifi technologies, platforms, and network architectures

  • Working knowledge of OSI model and LAN administration (inclusive of VLANs, TCP/IP, subnetting, network security technologies, RTP, DHCP, DNS, GPON, Fiber, DOCSIS, WiFi, QoS, 802.1p, PoE, 802.11x)

  • Experience with product development life-cycle and adherence to product development methodologies

  • Well defined analytical skills and business modeling experience are required

  • Superior organizational and multi-tasking skills

  • Excellent communications skills with a proven record of managing a cross functional project team

  • Track record in delivering multiple projects on time and within budget in a time critical environment

  • Project matrix manager or supervisory experience

  • Strong presentation skills

  • Willingness to travel up to approximately 50%

    Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Direct experience with Hospitality Networks or the hospitality video and/or WIFI spaces is a plus

  • BS/BA degree in related discipline strongly desired (e.g. Business Administration, Engineering, Computer Science, etc.)

  • CCNA, CCNP or other related network professional certifications

  • Practical experience in LEAN innovation management practices or other agility-focused development processes is a good addition
