Cox Enterprises is hiring a Payroll Systems Analyst who will be responsible for performing business analysis, support the enhancement, configuration and development of enterprise wide HR technology systems and applications.  The Payroll Systems Analyst leads enterprise production payroll processing and has a comprehensive understanding of payroll processes and practices.


The Payroll Systems Analyst will support a range of projects, corporate and divisional HR Technology initiatives involving business acquisitions, system releases/enhancements, and overall maintenance of the core Human Capital Management (HCM) system.


The Payroll Systems Analyst will lead and/or support multiple work activities/projects of high complexity and impact/risk. The Payroll Systems Analyst has an end-to-end perspective of HCM systems and processes.  The analyst builds business relationships with IT and the functional areas.


The enterprise wide systems support 55,000+ employees across four divisions.





  • Facilitates meetings with business users to identify, understand and document functional requirements.

  • Participates in design of functional requirements/specifications for new development and ongoing projects.

  • Performs system analysis and design activities.

  • Participates in projects as subject matter expert (SME).

  • Creates, reviews and obtains signoff of work and change requests.

  • Assists in the planning, creation and execution of test scripts.


Process Improvement

  • Analyzes current production processes, both business and technical, and offers suggestions for improvement. 

  • Identifies and implements efficiencies with existing processes.

Production Support

  • Demonstrates a deep understanding of payroll processes and practices.

  • Performs as the lead for updating Payroll system tables within the core HCM solution.

  • Performs enterprise production operation tasks/activities as needed, including running and processing payroll jobs.

  • Identifies and resolves system wide issues through innovative solutions.

  • Develops queries using PeopleSoft query tool and/or stand-alone SQL for validation and analysis.

  • First point of contact for third-level support to provide solutions within established service level guidelines.

  • Performs other duties as assigned, based on department and business needs.



  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience

  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Human Resource Information Professional (HRIP) certifications preferred

 System Knowledge/Experience

  • Minimum of five years’ professional experience; minimum of three years’ experience working with PeopleSoft Payroll Processing/Administration in a large HR/Payroll environment (greater than 10,000 employees)

  • Experience with Kronos Timekeeping is a plus.

  • Experience with one of the following query/reporting tools: PeopleSoft query, Access, SQL, and Query/Crystal reports

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, analytical, presentation and critical thinking skills

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Broad working knowledge of organization’s current technologies and practices and understanding of strategic direction

  • Ability to be flexible and respond to varied demands
