The Commercial Real Estate Banking (CREB) segment of the Commercial Bank provides customized and comprehensive solutions to create value and help meet identified strategic priorities and evolving needs for our real estate clients and prospects, which include best in class REITS, funds, and national/regional developers.

CREB is seeking a Relationship Manager who will learn the trade and hone skills necessary to lead client teams that develop and advance client relationships, connect client priorities to solutions across the bank and delight our clients.

Responsible for a variety of relationships, business development and transactional activities for our Commercial Real Estate group. May lead a client service team for less critical or complex relationships and but typically provides support to a more senior relationship manager. May handle all aspects of a customer relationship except negotiations pertaining to pricing and financing. The RM is accountable for developing in role into the primary bank advocate and key financial advisor for the relationship. In the context of prospecting new business and enhancing existing relationships, the RM will have the ability to engage in dialogue with CEO and CFO levels regarding the clients’ industry, capital needs and alternative capital structures, and, will have a solid understanding of the bank’s sponsor and credit underwriting and selectivity requirements. The RM will be capable of assessing the risks and impacts from both the clients’ and the bank’s perspective for development and implementation of an overall client strategy. The RM is responsible for leading, directing and coordinating key team members in analysis and execution in the effective delivery of their products and services to clients and prospects. Proven track record of prospecting new business and enhancing existing relationships preferred. Proven sales skills and experience, including planning, execution and follow up of client meetings preferred. This role requires prior commercial real estate and /or commercial real estate finance experience or equivalent; credit underwriting experience a plus.

  • Undergraduate degree required: Majors in business, real estate, finance or economics preferred. MBA desirable
  • Must have 3 to 5 years of experience in Commercial Lending or equivalent
  • Must demonstrate aptitude and ability to be conversant in all aspects of helping to develop customized solutions for meeting the strategic priorities and evolving financial needs of our clients
  • Must exhibit excellent communication skills and executive presence
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills and experience
  • Professional sales skills and experience, including planning, execution and follow up of client meetings
  • Capable of organizing, facilitating, and leading a team of bank associates to identify and solve client problems
  • Ability to understand and interpret the principles of accounting, credit and finance; financial modeling experience and the completion of a formal credit training is desired. Will support the credit development in role
  • Demonstrated leadership ability
  • Appropriate licensing (Series 7, 63 – will assist with licensing in role if necessary)
