Candidate Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Journalism, English or related field preferred with a minimum of 2 to 3 years’ experience writing, producing, editing digital content preferred and/or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
• Must be able to demonstrate a deep and passionate love of public media; strong working knowledge of national public radio and television programs; strong visual sense, and the ability to select, and occasional create, impactful photos and graphics for a digital platform.
• Experience working with web-based content management systems. Drupal experience preferred.
• Excellent writing skills, including writing articles, blog posts, headlines, teasers for a digital platform.
• Copyediting skills, with a special ability to give and receive constructive feedback in a way that maintains a positive work environment for everyone.
• Experience with Adobe creative suites and Tools to include (Photoshop, Premier, Illustrator, Spark, etc.). Ability to crop, resize, remove background elements from a photo in Photoshop and import a video into a Premiere timeline, clip it, export it into a specified file format; and tools towards building interactive digital experiences highly preferred.
• A self-starter, flexible, collaborative and the ability to multi-task. Must have outgoing personality that moves first to meet with internal stakeholders.
• Ability to meet deadlines, work in a fast-paced environment, and must be highly organized and detail oriented.
• Must have a flexible schedule with the ability to work some nights and weekends as required.

Job Responsibilities Include:
• Works with GPB divisions, including TV, radio, news, education, marketing, fundraising, social media and events, manages the home page of the web site, makes updates throughout the day and balances various departmental priorities to ensure the web site remains fresh and compelling at all times.
• Creates new and original content for national and local TV and radio programs, such as writes blog posts and articles and creates interactive features to develop consumer interest in programming.
• Meets proactively with all departments to support new programming and initiatives and sustain positive relationships with peers in those departments to provide best experience for web site consumers.
• Maintains active knowledge of programming schedules, and actively develops relevant digital materials to support new and archival programming. Maintains an editorial content calendar and makes use of scheduled publishing tools to ensure content remains updated at all times.
• Locates shareable content from national production partners and posts, embeds and/or shares this content from relevant places on the GPB.org web site. Works with developers on our digital team, develops ways to automatically import national production content into the GPB.org web site using a variety of APIs.
• Develops ways to engage consumers in GPB.org digital content to increase time on site, for example, by explicitly relating themes and genres of content into convenient ways for consumer to extend the time of digital engagement. Organizes content with metadata and tags in Content Management System so that it is easy to locate and reuse.
• Monitors website and social media analytics to make strategic content decisions. Uses on-demand viewing data to assist with making relevant content recommendations to consumers.
• Assists news, education and marketing and communications divisions to create new and original content for the GPB.org web site, and acts as a backup for team members in those divisions when they are unavailable.
